Our team members are our most valuable asset. For them, teaching is more than just a job. It is a passion and a vocation whereby they have the exciting opportunity to stimulate, challenge and help inquisitive young minds to find their way forward in learning and life.
Qualities we prioritize in our teaching team
We select our team members very carefully, seeking them out not just for their qualifications and experience but also for their personal qualities. We actively look for staff members who have warmth, patience, bright personalities and the will to make a difference in the lives of their young charges.
Teacher mentoring and development
Our staff members are mentored and supported by the Principal and our academic team. Teacher development is at the heart of our ethos. The impact of high quality teaching in early childhood cannot be overstated. Our teachers are highly adept at supporting learners to make sense of the world and to explore and augment their individual talents, interests and questions through hands-on project based learning. Our approach facilitates meaningful and learner-centered education where both adults and children engage together in the discovery process as they create, connect and collaborate.
School-based professional learning community
We firmly believe that the investments we make in our teachers’ professional learning help to establish a professional learning community within which teachers collaborate to share best practices and brainstorm innovative ways to improve learning and drive student achievement. Sharing expertise and innovating together also helps teachers to bond more effectively and to transform into a team of leaders, while learning to reflect for action. Our teachers’ professional growth is ensured through:
• Individualized training plans
• In-house and off-site trainings and mentoring
• Participation in Lesson Study (teacher-led research in which a triad of teachers work together using research, implementation, observation and reflection to target an identified area for development in their students’ learning).
